J’aime, je nʼaime pas

The exhibition „J'aime, je n'aime pas" (I love, I don't love) follows an invitation from Galerie EIGEN + ART to Tim Eitel and brings together 6 artists from Georgia, Israel, Syria and France that studied with Tim Eitel at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. „My work revolves around a kind of double life between two countries — France and Georgia", says Elene Shatberashvili, who lives in Paris, „the physical and emotional life in one country and the imagination in another country. I live and watch the shift of the outer and inner borders. The formerly fixed values become soft, the words change their meaning. And always the difficulty of grasping the world." That sums up what unites the 6 artists: the search for identity in an insecure world and it also ties in with Barthes when he says that what we love or don't love is what defines our identity, explained to us in the distinction from the other — my body is not the same to yours.
